Agathon Fric (pronounced “fritz”) is a lawyer, writer, web designer, Carleton University political science alumnus, and graduate of the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. He earned his Master of Laws at Harvard Law School, where he was a Dean’s Scholar. A former Editor-in-Chief of the Dalhousie Journal of Legal Studies, Agathon has clerked to justices of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia. Most recently, he practised criminal defence with the team at Wolch Wilson Jugnauth.
Agathon has published peer-reviewed articles on a variety of legal topics, including search and seizure, youth digital privacy, medical aid in dying, judicial selection, and the rule of law. His work is cited in the Halsbury’s Laws of Canada volume on Criminal Procedure.
When he isn’t in court, Agathon sits on the Board of Quidditch Canada, a registered National Sport Organization that governs and promotes the advancement of quidditch in Canada. This includes Kidditch, the organization’s youth league. Quidditch is unique among national sports as it is the only gender-inclusive, full-contact sport played in Canada.
Agathon’s experience is as diverse as his talents are many. For nearly a decade, he was at the forefront of developing original children’s content targeted to youth between the ages of 8-14 as part of one of Canada’s bestselling children’s magazines. Tech-savvy, detail-oriented and forward-thinking, Agathon is passionate about finding creative new ways to meet the needs of his clients and his community.
He has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, including the Supreme Court of Canada.
